Young woman seeking employment
I am a young transwoman living in upper manhattan looking for a job. I have extensive experience in the restaurant industry as well as experience in secretarial/receptionist work. Below is a brief list of my qualifications, I have a full resume available upon request:
Education: I graduated from J. A. Foran High School in Milford, CT in 2000. I took several classes in childcare and developement as I aspire to either be a Pediatric Nurse or Teacher. I attended the Sanford-Brown Institute's Medical Assistant program. I will be resuming my schooling there upon my receipt of a scholarship which I have applied for. I have taken and successfully completed classes in Clinical Asepsis, Typing (I type 40 wpm), Phlebotomy, Urinalysis, Taking vital signs, using office equipment, and human anatomy. Most classes were completed with an "A" average. I have only received 2 "B"s.
Employment: I grew up in the restaurant industry, my father owned several restaurants. I have experience as a waitress, a busperson, and a hostess. I worked at a Starbucks near my hometown for approximately one year and enjoyed it (If I had the chance to turn back time, I probably would've never left, I would've been a manager by now.) In my teens I worked at the City Clerk's Office in Milford, CT, answering phones, copying and filing documents, occasionally faxing documents, running errands, delivering packages and mail within the government office building. I worked At Filene's Department Store as a cashier/ sales associate. During my time living in San Francisco, CA, I was a live-in housekeeper for an older transgendered woman. I cooked and cleaned for her, did shopping for groceries and other household items, and I delivered mail, occasionally completing other tasks she had for me. That is basically it as far as my work history is concerned.
So basically I am looking for any job that can help support and sustain me. I am a very hard worker and very efficient. I have a great personality and get along with others, even people that tend to be disagreeable and unfriendly.
