Does the perfect kiss exist? The jury is out, lip-locked so to speak. Sure, we've all had those dreamy kisses that will go down in our personal history as the most romantic, most perfect kisses we've ever received — so memorable that we dream of someone kissing us like that for a lifetime. But what made these kisses perfect?
1. Timing?
Timing is everything in a kiss. It should take your breath away, perhaps by being a bit of a surprise. Like when you're talking and your date literally "steals" a kiss. Very spur-of-the-moment and so romantic. The unexpected "stolen kiss" is often the most romantic — though "planned out" kisses in romantic settings can also be perfect!
2. Setting?
If you're in the right frame of mind, a kiss can be wonderful. Several of my perfect kisses were in so-called perfect settings (those places you expect to be romantic, e.g., where they always have a romantic kiss in the movies). One of my perfect kisses was atop the Eiffel Tower in Paris while looking down onto the night-lights below. The second was on the steps of a train when I was leaving a newfound date behind. They were perfect partially because I found the settings so romantic — and the men I kissed weren't bad either! So I suggest you find a romantic setting (bars are too loud and impersonal) and steal a kiss of your own.
3. Atmosphere?
Atmosphere's almost the same as "setting" but a little different. This has to do with the context of a kiss. Were you just dancing cheek-to-cheek? Did you just share a romantic and indulgent chocolate fondue desert? Did you just receive some romantic gift? The atmosphere can be a perfect kiss maker or breaker.
4. Sensations?
Think about the way someone touches you with their lips or where they place their hands on your body. Sensation is everything — especially if something connects it to your special someone, like his cologne or her eyes.
5. Words?
If a kiss is either preceded or followed by the words "I love you," the kiss takes on a heightened importance. If the kiss is meant to make up for some wrongdoing, then it becomes insignificant.
All these things — timing, setting, atmosphere, sensations and words, can influence or produce the perfect kiss. But it's very individual; it has to do with how you're feeling at the time and how you feel about the person you're kissing. If you're in love, everything is intensified. If not, the perfect kiss may lead you down the road to romantic bliss.
