The Howard P. Isermann Department of Chemical Engineering at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute is initiating a search for a Department Head who will also hold the title of Howard P. Isermann Professor of Chemical Engineering. The endowed Department, along with the Rensselaer School of Engineering, is undergoing a dynamic renaissance. Unprecedented opportunities for growth and renewal are now available in the Department through its world-class expertise in the areas of bioseparations engineering, interfacial phenomena, materials processing, combustion, and process control.
The Department Head is expected to provide strong leadership in the continued innovation of curricula, to enhance and expand the undergraduate and graduate research programs and to promote the Department and Institute to the chemical engineering community at large. A broad view of all aspects of chemical engineering research, practice and education is expected in order to develop and integrate the Department's activities in conjunction with other campus programs and with neighboring institutions.
Candidates must have an earned doctorate in chemical engineering or allied field and hold a proven record of scholarly achievement and evidence of strong leadership, management, and interpersonal skills.
